My Country Talks started in 2017, when the ZEIT ONLINE newsroom was seeking a way to bring readers together across political divides. Since then, media partners from around Germany have come together once a year to bring political dissidents into a personal dialogue.
In cooperation with dozens of media partners, tens of thousands of people from all over Germany have already been won over to participate in "Deutschland spricht" (Germany speaks). This year, in the context of the Bundestag elections, we once again want to engage political dissidents in a political debate. The central question is: What makes Germany tick before the Bundestag elections? With "Deutschland spricht", we are creating a direct mood picture of the opinions, wishes and concerns of our readers in the Corona super-election year.
